A Vision for the Development of Practice in Scotland
The NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) Practice Development Unit is taking forward a national approach to the development of practice in Scotland. The aim of this work is to create a vision and common understanding of Practice Development, which reflects a values-based approach. This work is underpinned by a commitment to using knowledge to promote improvements in the quality of healthcare.
The consultation document sets out a model for the development of healthcare practice, which is designed to complement existing approaches to quality improvement. It has been developed to be useful across settings and sectors and we would therefore like to invite comments from a range of stakeholders who may find this work of use.
This draft is the result of collaborative working. A number of key groups were consulted in the early stages of developing this work and their feedback has shaped this document. Stakeholder feedback through events, meetings and email has helped the national steering group refine the version which is now presented for wider consultation.
The steering group is considering the best format for the document. We are looking for examples, vignettes and action plans to illustrate the usefulness of the model. A comprehensive resources section is planned, to animate the issues for consideration and to provide signposts to further support. We are taking advice on web design, content and language to deliver an engaging web-based resource.
