Workshop Programme (Word, 534K, 1min 13secs)
“Coverage with evidence development” is the term used to describe a policy decision to make a healthcare intervention available to patients while more conclusive evidence is gathered to address uncertainty regarding its clinical or cost effectiveness. Coverage with evidence development decisions have been adopted for a number of healthcare systems including those in Canada and Australia.
A workshop was convened by NHS Quality Improvement Scotland in September 2008 to determine if Scotland might benefit from coverage with evidence development. The invited participants to the workshop included: academics and researchers, policy makers and decision makers at health board, regional and national level, clinicians, ABPI, ABHI, NICE, HTA programme in England, MHRA, HERU, representatives from the Chief Executives Group and Chief Pharmacists Group, and others interested in HTA in Scotland
The programme and presentations made at this workshop are now available and the consultation paper to be produced following the meeting will also be published as soon as it has been finalised.
